Work is due to begin very soon on the new East Neighbourhood Office and Library

The new East Neighbourhood Office and Library in Craigmillar is intended to provide real opportunities to improve local service delivery, according to Edinburgh Council.

The new building is part of the ongoing regeneration of Craigmillar and will form part of the development of the new town centre. This project is part of the Council's Fit For Future programme and work should begin on site by the end of July.

It would be absolutely right and proper for the new Library to be named the Helen Crummy Memorial Library. She wouldn't have liked a street named after her ... but a Library??   Yes, because books were her passion from childhood. She encouraged many people (myself included) to write and to read. Few people manage to create changes to the community they lived in to the degree that Helen did.  As a Scottish Woman of Achievement, let her name be on this buildng ... The Helen Crummy Memorial Library!

I totaly agree with you on this one Johnni, after everything this lady has achieved for the Community of Craigmillar,the support and encouragment she has given to ordinary people who never thought that they could make something of themselves... it is only right that we acknowledge her in this way and name the new Library ..The Helen Crummy Memorial Library

I also agree that naming the library after Helen Crummy is the most fitting tribute to a woman who made the biggest difference a person could make to the betterment of their community.
