6/8/2008Underline New Centre

It would be constructive to see the 'old White Hoose' to be central in the Cultural regeneration of Craigmillar.

Also consideration should be given to the remaining shops, and frontage from the Bakery/TSB to the Credit Union (Lucas). We don't need dogs abuse, or crazy paving!

Gus Meechan

Gus, the point about the shop fronts was raised at one of the consultation meetings. As these are independant bussinesses the shop fronts are pretty much their concern. They can not be forced to upgrade, standardise or otherwise change them. But they would be encouraged to do so. And as far as I know they are still oot on the hoose. But you could maybe explain what you mean by "Cultural"
With the impending 'New' Town Centre, I belive that the remaining shops, would then stand out like a 'sore thumb'. This needs to be addressed. Cultural: relating to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a society: cultural diversity of the people, or relating to the arts and to intellectual achievements. Their's been plenty of that both locally, and pivoted, at the White Hoose. What's that other one called, Linster House?
Gus, anybody who's even giving the White House a second thought must must lack any past knowledge of the history of it. It is a building well known for all the wrong reasons. It is an eyesore. Demolish it or forget the new centre.
Is it true that upstairs at the White Hoose, their are Rennie MacIntosh panels?
Gus Rena Macintosh was the cleaner and live up the Loan
The White Hoose could become a new Community Centre for the Craigmllar Castle area, since it lacks one.
