Police appeal for witnesses after Newcraighall road rage incident
31 August, 2012The police are appealing for witnesses to a road rage attack that took place in broad daylight at the Newcraighall Road junction underneath the A1 on Wednesday 29 August.
A 28 year-old female driver, who was alone, was subjected to a sustained verbal assault and had her car kicked by the male driver of the vehicle behind her after she stopped at the lights at around 1.40pm.
The man was driving a black Honda Accord, which he returned to after the attack, before turning off north onto the A1 sliproad.
He is described as being white, in his mid-40s, of medium build and around 5ft 7in tall, with short black slightly receding hair. He was also said to be wearing a dark plain polo shirt and jeans with dark, thick round glasses.
Lothian and Borders Police Constable Neill Watt said: "This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked incident and while the young woman involved was not injured in any way, she has been left understandably shaken.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Newcraighall area at lunchtime on Wednesday and who may have seen what happened to contact us on 0131 311 3131."
