14/8/2008Household waste collection day changes

Household waste across the Greater Craigmillar area is now being collected on a Tuesday, after a Council review of refuse collection routes.

Around 35,000 households in Edinburgh are affected by review, especially across the South of the city, with changed collection days for 60% of households putting their rubbish out in green bins. Recycling and garden waste (red and blue boxes and brown bins) days will remain the same. Those living in affected streets have already been sent a letter outlining changes by the council.

The review of rubbish collection routes comes as part of City of Edinburgh Council's Pathfinder Project, designed to steamline environmental services like refuse management, street cleaning, and recycling for people in the city.

Queries about the new system can be answered by calling City of Edinburgh Waste Management on 0131 529 3030. Residents can also get advice and information on city recycling services from refuse collection staff.

The way energy (Gas & Electric) prices are going we won't need red, brown or blue boxes! Just a builder to open up our fireplaces again! 5 Million Scots watching our carbon footprint doesn't make a jot of difference to 2 billion Chinese burning fossil fuels as if they are going out of fashion!
