Axolotl: The 8 month adventure
An author with Craigmillar connections has launched his first book - the fascinating tale of an amazing amphibious creature - the axolotl.
Gordon Menzies is a former Craigmillar resident, with many family connections in the area. He says: "I have written my own book and proud of my first attempt. It is called Axolotl: The 8 month adventure."
Description:
Axolotl's are an endangered species in the wild but in homes around the world they are a popular pet. This book contains a very detailed photo account of the development of 35 eggs. Follow how they develop in their egg sacks over a period of 20 days then as they hatch. Over the space of 8 months all aspects of these fascinating creatures are recorded until they mate themselves and lay their own eggs. You will be amazed at how much they change from the egg stage over the period of time and also at the detailed photographs that have been taken.
I decided to record every aspect of this creature and have some unique and stunning images that would be welcomed on any coffee table. It would also assist people who want to do the same and rear them from eggs.
The book was made by myself and published by blurb.com an online print on demand service.
