A Phoenix risen from the ashes - aka odd-looking creature [bird]
Site Admin: This s1craigmillar reader spotted a strange bird up at Craigmillar Castle and was inspired to write the following poem. Has anyone else seen it?
In case anyone is faintly
interested,
on my moorish travels [inspirational
for my poetry]
I go it alone,
with or without a pal
to our fave
castle
of which I constantly rave.
Well
let me just tell,
as I was walking brisk
to the hospital,
seated on a portion of crumbling
wall
was the strangest bird
of all.
Stumbling
along
I whisk
out camera phone;
too late
it's long gone - flew the farmer's gate.
Now cranes,
herons,
the ring-necked love
pretty turtle dove,
and several birds of prey
to this day
as we constantly say
come our way
frequent these ancient lands.
But in the cold
season of Lent
this
multicoloured creature of bliss
looked so bold,
brightened
up - warmed the dreich landscape and lightened
drab feature!
And I happen to miss
the opportunity to capture
his / her image.
Anyone else espied glimpse of above?
'Twas enough to enrapture.
