ODE TO A WINTER WONDERLAND

Well the drifting

Snow

Didst not appear

To know,

It owned to the gall

To beat us all.

It was on the ball.

Once & for all.

For the kiddies fae

School,

It will rule,

Always & ever enthral.

To adults,less than uplifting.

The bitter cold -

To which they are immune

Yet if one's headed up toon

For a Christmas pressy or two

We cannae

Help but feel blue.

The bus is hot and steamy

The snow's turned dirty -

Not wondrous,

Glittering & creamy.

The way it looked the night before.

From the bedroom windae

Where it lay

Deep, diamond crusted,

Crisp & even.

The mystical lore

It didst once command

O'er all ancient & romantic land

In Scott's glorious of day

A magical skating loch

Caught and painted.

Now no magic left,

Just a damp scrunched up sock.

Tainted.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
