The Diary of a Countryside Lady 17.11.11
MY MOST FAVOURITE HAUNT
Yesterday
as winter sun spilled
o'er the noon day
I took a leisurely jaunt
to my most favourite haunt.
Waxing lyrical
in my mind,
spilled
the verse
And what did I happen to find?
I noticed a brightened spot
of crimson blossom
at baby Craig Millar statue.
A new sprung
newly hung
holly bush got
planted
on which a robin whistled and sung.
This, which didst push
through knotted weed and thistle alike..
Even though the site
looks a fright,
almost obscured
immersed and innured
in building rubble,
whch accounts for double
the weeds and knotted grass,
since I was last
there.
It made my hair
literally stand on end.
A thank you from the foundling baby?
Well, maybe
he didst send
forth Christmas greetings.
for the meetings
the people of Craigmillar didst bestow
and the wreaths, flowers and toys left for him
before they go.
