Diary of a Countryside Lady 23.07.2010 @15.30
The swallows are dipping
And diving,
The swifts
Swiftly talking
And [seemingly] conniving.
In this rare
mid Summer's air.
These, the only creatures now thriving
In the Wauchope wilderness.
Ah, but wait.
Unless
I'm very much mistaken
One other has alighted
Upon the old cinema.
Where Garbo swooned.
And Sinatra crooned.
And Hitchcock didst bare
His famous Psycho.
To thrill
And scare
The local populace,
At will
Of a dark winter's night.
The only fright
Now left
In this wild-flower
Bower -
Bereft
Of hearth and home,
Is a rare, warm brown butterfly
Who happens to join the aforementioned
Bird(s)
Of the air.
Perhaps to hold an absurd
Conversation.
