Eddie/Jim...Do you know who posted the picture of the Yamaha SG175 on the website? Interested to know, I think it used to belong to me! E-mail peter@morganpa.fsnet.co.uk cheers

James McGovern says

Peter, The guitar in the picture is mine. I bought in in 1984 from a crane driver called Cody.

Jim, thanks for the reply. As you know there aren't many of these around and from your picture I'm pretty sure its the guitar I owned. I changed some things on it, like a new tailpeice, new knobs and the two DiMarzio pickups (Super Dist and PAF). Does it have two varnish cracks on the neck near the nut? It had an amazingly low action, haven't played anything like it since. I sold it in 82/83 so the dates match up. Have you any idea what its worth now?

James McGovern says

It has a varnish crack on either side of the neck at the nut and is approximately worth around a grand (seen one on ebay a few months back but it had no mother of pearl inlay on the neck nor had it a serial no for £950). Planning to get it re-fretted in the summer!

I thought as much, should never have sold it! Thanks for letting me know. Keep on enjoying it.

James McGovern says

Best guitar i've ever bought!, Beats my fender and my blade! They are cheap sh!t compared to this.

Have your say...
